Adventures in preschool

Banana started preschool today. She has been dying to go to school. She actually tried to get on the bus at her baby sitter's house back in September. So I worked it all out with Nana to help us get her to and from school. Anyway, back to how it went. Banana made herself right at home in the preschool office while we registered and even remembered the name of her teacher (we rehearsed it last night). She was eager to meet Mrs. N and had a small moment of shyness, lasting about ohhh...30 seconds! Her very sweet teacher pointed out all of the fun stuff around the room. Meanwhile, Banana located the dress up clothes and was dressed as Princess Barbie before any other kids were in the classroom. Big surprise, not! Officer Cherry and I left without protest from our sweet girl, and I without a sniffle....he never would have let me live it down if I cried...jerk! Fast forward to pickup....Savannah was excited to see us and head to Chick-Fil-A for lunch! She came home with 2 paintings, a picture drawn in chalk (their color for the month is white) and a paper plate clock with mouse (to go with Hickory Dickory Dock). I think I might need to brush up on my nursery rhymes! Mrs. N reported that she was a superstar. Banana listened and followed directions, played with the other little nuggets in her class and knew everything the teacher threw at her. Bottom line, first day of preschool = SUCCESS!!!

On our way to school.  She was too excited to eat breakfast at home or in the car.

Her awesome school work.

Change #1 for 2012...check!

Monday, January 2, 2012

To summarize 2011, it was a really great year. Officer Cherry is doing well with the department and received a lot of recognition for his hard work. I started working at the children's hospital and thoroughly enjoy it. Of course when the alarm clock goes off the last thing I feel like doing is getting up for work, but you can't complain too much about spending most of the day sitting on the floor playing with toys and games. Banana has become quite a spitfire this last year. She is very talkative and lets us know exactly how she feels! I'm anxious to see what 2012 has is store for us.

Events I am looking forward to:
  • Banana starting preschool (tomorrow)!
  • Selling the townhouse
  • Buying a larger home with more room for all the stuff we've acquired
  • Baby Liam being born. Robert and Shanna are two of the most deserving parents
  • Hopefully a trip back to Lake Gaston, with a few new people in tow from last year
  • And just tons of new memories made with my friends and family
Well 2012 is here. My goal, not resolution, for the year is to be more organized and timely. Sometimes I feel like I'm grabbing at coattails to keep up with daily schedules, household chores, appointments and creating memories with Savannah. Wish me luck! :-)
